Inaugural AERIAL Training and Development Conference

AERIAL hosted its inaugural training and development conference in South Africa in January at the Lanzerac Hotel in Stellenbosch.

We were pleased to welcome lawyers from members firms and airlines from countries across Africa and also would like, in particular, to recognise the support and speakers from Clifford Chance, De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek, GECAS and Norton Rose who provided such a valuable expert insight into legal aspects of the aviation industry.

The presentation and discussion topics over the two days included: ways to finance aircraft, aircraft sale and purchases, operating leases, legal opinions in aircraft transactions, events of default, export credit, what you really need to know about the Cape Town Convention and aviation claims, insurance and liability.

The key presentation material from the two days is available here for reference and download in pdf format Day One | Day Two

Aside from the formal training and development sessions, members took the opportunity to expand their legal contacts and socialise with other members over lunches and dinners and to enjoy an interesting private tour and wine tasting event at Lanzerac's vineyard at the end of day 1.

A big thank you to all members and supporters for making this event such a success.
